Technology Title: Electronic Field and Temperature Probe
Inventor: Hagmann, Mark Patent Number: U.S. 5,113,864
FIU Technology Number: IP - 13 Patent Issue Date: 5/19/1992
Brief Technology Description, including novel features:
A hybrid device has been developed to make isotropic measurements of radio frequency electric fields and also measure the temperature at one or more locations. A novel means is used to cause the electric field probes to have an isotropic response. Separate temperature probes and implantable radio frequency electric field probes are now used in medical applications where radio frequency fields are used to heat the human body for hyperthermia. These devices would improve the efficiency and precision of hyperthermic treatment, but they could also be used to monitor heating of materials in industrial applications.
Degree of Technical Development of Technology:
We have made and successfully tested several different models of these probes, and determined means that could be used to fabricate miniature implantable probes.
